Just FYI for all you returning visitors. We’ve been working on some awesome stuff and will be filling you in on all the goodies very soon!
On entertainment and celebrity news, we’re really not the dish-ers of dish. However, we did want to share this positive turn of events for Britney.
Up until this point, we haven’t said word one about money or anything close to it. We’ve been proud to keep PrayersForBritney a positive place, one free of any kind of personal or business agenda.
However, because PFB is maintained by a very, very busy person, the time has come for a choice to be made.
1. Keep prayers for Britney going by accepting donations
2. Drop it all together
or
3. Sell the site.
(Ouch, we know.)
So here’s what we propose: If you’ve enjoyed reading all of the positive and uplifting messages to Britney and if you want the site to continue on it’s path, please log into to paypal and send a contribution to this address, bizdevmarketing >at sign< gmail.com. Every little bit helps, but we’re asking for $12.00 per person. (There is in fact a logic behind this number.)
If you absolutely can’t do it, here’s an alternative. There’s a contest site out there that just recently launched, and it’s incredibly easy to win the 500 dollar prize. You just sign into enter, and if your selected as a finalist, you get all of your friends to vote for you; the entrant with the most vote wins. So basically, it’s not if your lucky enough to win, but if you want to win badly enough!
The reason why we’re offering this as an alternative is in part because it’s so easy to win - you can enter as many times as you want, you can even vote for yourself - again - as many times as you want. (Voting costs a dollar.)
So if you’re the winner, please considering donating 12 of your free online dollars to keep PrayersForBritney going, and so you can enjoy the spirit of giving, too!

Now we’re talking turkey. Redeeming pop culture one person at a time? How about “one tabloid mag at a time.” Check this out!
The celebrity gossip website Holy Moly is best known for stories on the likes of Amy Winehouse, Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. But for once the website is taking a moral stance, adding its voice to increasing criticism of the paparazzi and saying it will not publish any more intrusive photographs of celebrities.
In a statement, Holy Moly said it was responding to “a definite change in the perception of paparazzi pictures around the world” over the past couple of weeks, due in large part to the hounding of the American singer Britney Spears. It listed the kinds of paparazzi shots which would henceforth be out of bounds, including pictures taken while “pursuing people in cars and on bikes”, “celebrities with their kids”, “people in distress at being photographed” and celebrities who are not “on duty”.
Thanks to everyone who is contributing to this kind of change in tone.
Many thanks to Philip Campbell from Snohomish, WA for submitting this touching video. You can check out his other Britney videos on MySpace TV.
Even though we’ve received hundreds of incredibly touching, poignant and heart-felt letters, , it’s important now to emphasis a larger point; one well illustrated here by Geoff N.He writes: Read the rest of this entry »
Here’s an update: I lurk around at news blogs every so often to gauge the public’s tone on this issue, which has been until recently, less than positive. But with the swiftness and severity of Britney Spears’ second hospitol visit, people are finally reaching their limit. The majority of comments posted are to the tune of “Stop this” and “uuugh, we’re sick of this” and”…what are we doing about it?” That’s a good thing. Journalists can’t ignore that. The success of their careers are contingent upon writing relevant stories that people want to read. And of course, with all this, more and more are joining up, posting their thoughts, their prayers, their positive messages. Keep it up, y’all… change is upon us.
Unrelated, but post-worthy. Love the recent outcropping of sites such as this.
I nearly fell off my chair when I read this article in the Star Tribune. The Trib is my home town’s news paper! Oh, the humanity. The author does a great job of keeping the topic focused on the cultural impact of all the whole Britney-bashing mess, and makes a reference to an article that explores and reveals the annals of tabloid journalism. While he*does* inject less than favorable opinions and speculations on Britney herself, that’s beside the point. Obviously everyone is entitle to their opinion. I myself don’t agree with everything the star does, but again, aside the point. The author end his article with“… I’m not the person to beg Spears to seek some legitimate help, although I suspect I’d be a more valuable counselor than Dr. Phil. I can ask that we all stop trolling the Internet for the latest gossip, turn off the tube everytime TMZ gleefully reports her latest mishap and boycott tabloid magazines that use her predicament as cover material.
But we’d better hurry. Both we and Spears may be running out of time.” OH MY GOD.You can email the author and request more from him like this at njustin@startribune.com
